Personal Profile
Basic Information:
• Xiyue Gao, Ph.D., Master’s Supervisor, Associate Professor.
Education and Work Experience:
• October 2024 – Present: Visiting Scholar, Boston University, CAS
• January 2021 – Present: Associate Professor, Master’s Supervisor, School of Computer Science and Technology, Xidian University
• September 2014 – December 2020: Ph.D. (Direct Ph.D. Program), School of Computer Science, Wuhan University, Major: Communication and Information Systems
• September 2010 – June 2014: Bachelor’s Degree, School of Electrical Engineering, Shandong University, Major: Electrical Engineering and Automation
Research Interests:
• Database Systems: Database Fuzzing, Autonomous database optimization and Security Database. The research focuses on addressing challenges in multi-modal database systems, such as high operational complexity, data inconsistency, and latency. It explores computational environments for stored procedures and functions, integration of relational and graph models, and eliminating the complexity of data orchestration and transformation required for multi-language persistence support.
• Data Mining: Graph Mining, Network Embedding. This research focuses on complex network structures, such as heterogeneous and dynamic networks, leveraging graph theory, probabilistic models, and machine learning to develop optimal low-dimensional vector representations while preserving network structure, temporal information, and labels. It aims to solve fundamental tasks such as node classification and link prediction.
Academic Achievements:
He has published over 20 papers in leading international conferences and journals, including VLDB, ACM MM, AAAI, ESWA, IPM, and ICDM, and has applied for more than 10 national invention patents. He has been invited as a reviewer for AAAI, ICDM, TCSVT, CCS, and other conferences and journals. In project development, he has participated in China’s National Key R&D Program on social security information services and big data applications. He has served as the principal investigator for one National Natural Science Foundation (NSFC) Young Scientist Fund and one Shaanxi Province Young Scientist Fund and has contributed to three other joint and general research projects. Dr. Gao is actively engaged in open-source and security database technology research through Xidian Database Innovation Lab, collaborating on cutting-edge database projects.
Teaching and Course Development:
At the undergraduate level, Dr. Gao teaches: “Introduction to Database Kernel” (General Class), “Multi-Model Database” (Elite Class)
He is also a core member of the National First-Class Course “Multimedia Data Processing” and serves as the liaison for the first batch of Virtual Teaching and Research Offices on “Domestic Database Curriculum System”.
Student Recruitment:
• Undergraduate students who are diligent and self-motivated are welcome to join the lab early to engage in research, projects, or competitions.
• Students seeking a Master’s advisor are encouraged to reach out for discussions. However, due to the high volume of emails, individual responses may not always be possible. Your understanding is appreciated.
